The Castle Cary Cygnets Majorettes are a team that aims to provide girls with technical dance and baton twirling skills using pompoms, flags, batons and illuminated batons within a fun and friendly motivated group enhancing teamwork and individual self-confidence.  We have won numerous awards, which is a big achievement for a small troupe.

We are a non-profit making youth group, run purely by volunteers, so we like to keep running costs low as we rely upon various fundraising and donations.

Throughout the years we have had various award winning dance routines and uniforms, all of which have been specifically designed and taylor-made, making them unique to the Cygnets which have inspired others.

History

The majorettes were founded in the early 80's with about 35 regular members.

Our troupe was named the Cygnets after the town's swans that were traditional residents in the horsepond.

Our troupe colours are Red and White, wearing our home town colour of red.  The local football and rugby clubs sporting red and black.

In the past the majorettes have taken part in a variety of events.  They started with local fetes which progressed to carnivals, and competitions amongst other troupes.  The Cygnets have also starred in stage shows and amature theatrical productions, and have gone international with exchange visits to France.
